Frequently Asked Questions — Our Services
What’s the difference between a recycling broker and a recycler?
A recycler physically processes material — they bale, grind, wash, or melt it. A broker matches material with the right end-market buyer and handles the freight, paperwork, and payment. BlackBridge is a broker. We don’t run our own grinding or washing — we route your material to the reclaimer or mill that pays best for that grade on that day. That neutrality is the value.
How does BlackBridge make money?
We earn a margin between what the end buyer pays and what we pay you, plus we run freight in-house through BlackBridge Logistics so we capture margin there too. That margin is built into the per-pound quote you see — there are no separate brokerage fees, no settlement deductions, no surprise charges. If pricing doesn’t work for you, you don’t ship.
Why use BBR instead of selling directly to the mill or reclaimer?
End-market buyers want full truckloads, consistent grade, and steady volume — and they pay best to suppliers running 5+ loads weekly. If you’re under that, or your grade mix shifts month to month, broker pricing usually nets out higher. We aggregate your loads with other suppliers, work multiple buyer relationships, and route to the highest bid each week.
What materials do you handle?
Plastics (HDPE, PET, LDPE, PP, regrind, mixed), paper (OCC, mixed paper, sorted office, newsprint), metals (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, ferrous), EPS foam (densified preferred), and select industrial scrap. If you have a mixed waste stream and aren’t sure what’s marketable, send a photo inventory — we’ll tell you what’s worth selling and what isn’t.
Do you provide payment guarantees or Letters of Credit?
For domestic loads, payment is direct from BBR to you on agreed terms (Net 7/15/30 typically). For larger long-term programs we can structure escrow or LCs through our bank. We’ve been brokering since 2011 and our trade references are available — call 800-449-5084 and Marty in procurement can walk through credit setup with you.
How do I get started or get a quote?
Call 800-449-5084 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm ET) or send an email with: material type, estimated weekly or monthly volume, bale photos if available, your zip code, and any prior pricing benchmarks. We’ll quote within 1 business day, set up a test load, and scale from there. No long-term contract required to start.
